2024-11-20 11:38

Wedoany.com Report-Nov 20, Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2024 and continue until 2031, making it the largest tender in the history of the Railway Administration.

The Czech Railway Administration has obtained from the Transport and Energy Construction Office (DESÚ) a building permit for the modernization of the Česká Třebová junction. The start of the construction work will be this year, the date of the construction permit is December 2024. The last major reconstruction of Česká Třebová was in the 1950s. Electrification was also carried out at that time. Dozens of kilometers of overhead lines still in use date from this period.

The last step in the process is the selection of a contractor. The deadline for submitting bids was a month ago. The maximum price of the tender is €704 million. In addition, the Railway Administration has already signed a contract with the European Executive Agency for Climate, Infrastructure and Environment (CINEA) for a €290 million subsidy for the entire construction project. This is in line with the contract.

There will be no disruption to passengers at this stage of the work, although major restrictions will be in place from 2027 onwards. The value of the contract makes it the largest tender ever issued by the Railway Administration. Not only Česká Třebová station itself will be modernized. It will also include the connecting sections of the lines to Třebovice v Čechách, Opatov and Dlouhá Třebová. The bridges, the drainage system, the superstructure and the substructure of the railway as well as the overhead line will be reconstructed.

The entire passenger station in Česká Třebová will be reconstructed. The so-called departure group, which is mainly used by freight trains, will also be reconstructed. A total of 2.7 kilometers of new or reconstructed platforms will be built. There will be an increase in the line speed from 60 to 80 kilometers per hour. The modernization of the interchange will take place during operation. The works will last until 2031. After modifying the superstructure and substructure, rebuilding the drainage and repairing the bridges, the overhead line will also be replaced.
