Wedoany.com Report-Nov 19, This move aligns with Railcare's long-term strategy to develop the workshop to meet growing market demand.
Railcare has agreed to acquire Y-ettan AB, the owner of the property housing its locomotive workshop in Långsele.
The company is currently working on a decision basis for potential future investment in the facility. Efforts are focused on reviewing the detailed plan and building permit process, along with analyzing the scope of the possible expansion.
Originally functioning as a traditional locomotive shed, the Långsele workshop has evolved to handle increased maintenance services. The facility has reached its maximum capacity due to business growth and an expanded range of services, including engine replacements. This situation underscores the need for a more suitable and capacity-adjusted facility to meet future requirements and improve workflows.
Located at a key railway junction connecting Norra Stambanan and Ådalsbanan, and in proximity to Bothniabanan and Inlandsbanan via cross tracks, Långsele has been a railway hub for over a century. The acquisition of Y-ettan AB is set to take effect on April 1, 2025.
