Wedoany.com Report-Apr 4, Eolus and Hydro Rein have completed the construction of the 260MW Stor-Skälsjön onshore wind farm in Sweden. Located in the Sundsvall and Timrå municipalities in northern Sweden, the project features 42 Siemens Gamesa turbines, providing a total capacity of 260MW. The wind farm is expected to generate 800GWh of renewable electricity annually.
Eolus and Hydro Rein acquired the project from Enercon in June 2021. By 2022, the project had been sold to German asset manager MEAG, with Eolus selling its entire stake (51%) and Hydro Rein selling 24% of its shares, leaving it as a 25% owner. Both companies worked together under a Construction Management Agreement to construct the wind farm and manage its operations.
Eolus will provide asset management services for the wind farm under a 15-year contract. Per Witalisson, Eolus’ chief executive, expressed satisfaction with the project’s completion and look forward to continuing collaboration with Hydro Rein and MEAG under the asset management agreement.
The wind farm will distribute local community grants annually for the facility’s lifespan. The first grants were handed out in 2024 to a local school, a community centre, and sports and outdoor associations.
