2024-12-06 11:32

Wedoany.com Report-Dec 06,The Voivode of West Pomerania has granted the building permit for offshore wind turbines along with inter-array and telecommunications cables and offshore substation for RWE’s 350MW FEW Baltic 2 offshore wind farm in Poland.

The project is being developed some 50 km offshore in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea, north of the town of Ustka, and covers an area of approx 41 km².

In 2021, the Energy Regulatory Office granted RWE a Contract for Difference (CfD), subject to approval by the European Commission.

Seabed surveys were completed, and both geophysical surveys and preliminary geotechnical surveys were carried out by Polish contractors.

The FEW Baltic 2 project is at an advanced stage of preparation, pending further decisions and administrative approvals.

Tomasz Kreft, team lead for offshore consenting at RWE, said: "We have obtained the building permits for our offshore wind farm.

"This is a very important milestone for the whole FEW Baltic 2 project.

"We plan to obtain all remaining building permits in the first quarter of 2025. These documents will allow us to continue with our first offshore wind project in the Polish Baltic Sea as planned."

The scope of the project covered by the decisions includes offshore wind turbines; inter-array and telecommunication cables connecting the offshore wind turbines with each other and the groups of wind turbines with the offshore substation; and an offshore substation that will serve to transform and transmit the energy generated by the offshore wind turbines to land.
