Wedoany.com Report-Feb 22, This year, the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery is projected to produce 1.7 million tons of Euro-5 standard gasoline, according to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). In 2024, the refinery produced 1.4 million tons of automobile gasoline, with 0.6 million tons meeting the Euro-5 standard. During a planned capital repair period, domestic demand was fulfilled through imports.
The Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, which produces a range of oil products including gasoline, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, petroleum coke, fuel oil, and others, satisfies the majority of the domestic market's demand and exports 45% of its products.
To meet the growing demand in both domestic and international markets, a project is currently underway to reconstruct and modernize the refinery. The project aims to ensure the supply of high-quality fuel meeting the Euro-5 standard, satisfy the raw material needs of Azerikimya, and enhance the export potential of oil products.
Upon completion of the project, the refinery's annual processing capacity will increase from 6 million tons to 7.5 million tons, and the catalytic cracking unit's production capacity will grow from 2 million tons to 2.5 million tons per year. This expansion will allow the refinery to produce more Euro-5 standard gasoline and other high-quality oil products, further strengthening its position in both domestic and international markets.
