Wedoany.com Report-Apr 1, Danish investment fund EIFO has provided a €150 million (DKK 1.119 billion) project financing guarantee for the Fengmiao 1 offshore wind farm in Taiwan. The project, which has a capacity of 495 MW, is being developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. Vestas will supply 33 V236-15MW turbines for the project, and Semco Maritime is participating in a joint venture for the offshore substation.
EIFO, known for financing over 30% of the world’s installed offshore wind capacity, excluding China, has been involved in significant projects in the region. The funding comes shortly after EIFO announced DKK 1 billion (circa €134 million) for Orsted’s Greater Changhua 4 offshore wind project in Taiwan.
EIFO’s chief commercial officer, Peter Boeskov, highlighted the alignment of this financing with the fund’s strategy to support green energy projects and strengthen Danish exports. He expressed satisfaction in collaborating with Danish players like Vestas and Semco Maritime in Taiwan.
Senior vice-president at Semco Maritime, Frank Holm, emphasized the company’s role in the project and expressed optimism about strengthening ties with EIFO and other partners.
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners is developing the Fengmiao 1 project, which has secured total project financing of approximately NTD$103 billion (US$3.1 billion) from 27 international and Taiwanese banks. The project will feature six power purchase agreements with major Taiwanese companies to purchase the produced electricity.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. President of Vestas’s APAC region, Purvin Patel, noted the project’s significance in advancing the global energy transition.
