Wedoany.com Report-Nov 19, Equipped with advanced pneumatic braking systems and lightweight steel structures, the wagons are designed to improve transport efficiency while increasing capacity for commercial freight.
With the arrival in Lobito, Angola, of the first batch of 275 new container wagons purchased from Galison Manufacturing in South Africa, Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) has taken an important step towards strengthening its transport capacity.
The new wagons are part of LAR's plan to expand and modernize over the next three years. The wagons have an advanced pneumatic braking system and a lightweight steel structure, contributing to a safer and more efficient transport operation.
The new wagons, which weigh 13.5 tonnes and have a load capacity of up to 60.5 tonnes, are designed to carry one 40-foot container or two 20-foot containers each, providing logistical flexibility for LAR and its customers. These wagons will strengthen LAR's ability to increase the volume and capacity of the railway for commercial freight in the future. The arrival of this batch of wagons is the first of a series of weekly deliveries expected between today and 2026, which will gradually expand the fleet of LAR.
