In the U.S., Skanska has been awarded a $421 million contract by the New Jersey Transit Corporation for the Raritan River Bridge Replacement project in Middlesex County. The scope involves dismantling the current swing bridge’s superstructure and constructing a new vertical lift bridge, including towers, a lift span, two flanking spans, and communication and signal systems. Additional tasks cover overhead catenary installation, landside earthwork, and rail system enhancements. Work begins this month, with completion targeted for the third quarter (Q3) of 2029. This contract will appear in Skanska’s U.S. order bookings for Q1 2025.

The project includes constructing the facility, installing heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems, process piping, machinery, and all supporting structures. Spanning approximately 8,400 square meters, the plant will replace an existing backup facility. Construction starts in Q2 2025 and is slated to finish by Q3 2028. This agreement will be logged in Skanska’s Nordic order bookings for Q1 2025.

Last month, Skanska also won contracts for two other projects. In the U.S., it partnered with Sutter Health to convert an office building into an ambulatory surgery center and specialty clinic.
