Wedoany.com Report-Mar 13, Doosan Enerbility is to build a plant for the assembly of Siemens Gamesa’s 14MW offshore wind turbine in Changwon, South Korea.
The two companies have signed an agreement that will see Doosan Enerbility design and construct the manufacturing plant and production system for the turbine.
Siemens Gamesa will promote technology transfer, manpower support, and provide education and training to help Doosan Enerbility strengthen its ability to perform nacelle assembly, Doosan said.
Sohn Seung-woo, head of power service BG at Doosan Enerbility, said: "Through this agreement, the cooperative relationship between the two companies, which is based on mutual trust, has taken a step forward in practical implementation.
"Through the synergy of cooperation between the two companies, we will contribute to the revitalization of the domestic offshore wind power ecosystem as well as the expansion of carbon-free energy."
Vice president Dr. Falk Mehdorn, head of nacelles at Siemens Gamesa, added: "The collaboration with Doosan has been instrumental in securing a healthy project pipeline in South Korea.
"Doosan is a strong and reliable partner for us to enter the South Korean offshore wind market.
"We will ensure a smooth technology transfer and work closely together to introduce our 14 MW turbine in South Korean waters."
