Olavion, a subsidiary of the Unimot Capital Group, has placed an order for 12 additional Dragon locomotives from Newag.
The updated fleet will consist of 18 locomotives equipped with auxiliary diesel engines and two multisystem locomotives, supporting a range of operational requirements.
Olavion's current fleet includes 21 electric locomotives and three diesel shunting locomotives. The addition of these new units is expected to support ongoing operational targets and increase the company's service capacity within the rail transport sector.
Delivery of the locomotives will occur in multiple stages. The first two units are scheduled to arrive within 23 months from the order date. Four more units are planned for delivery by the end of December 2027, another four by December 2028, and the final two by December 2029.
The phased delivery approach aligns with Olavion's operational plans and ongoing efforts to address long-term logistical requirements within the rail freight market.
Olavion has first ordered four, and then added four more Dragon 2 locomotives, which have already appeared on Polish rails. With 12 new additional Dragons on order, the total amount of 20 will mean full execution of the framework contract.
