Wedoany.com Report-Dec 26, Voltalia has commenced construction of the 100MW Spitalla solar farm in the Durres region of Albania.
70% of electricity generated is due to be sold under a public contract won in 2021 and the remainder to private sector buyers after the array is commissioned in the second half of 2027.
It follows the developer’s commissioning of the 140MW Karavasta 1 solar farm in December 2023. The project is the largest in the western Balkans and is estimated to prevent 7% of emissions from Albania’s industrial sector.
Voltalia CEO Sebastien Clerc said: “We are proud to announce the construction of the Spitalla power plant.
“These initiatives illustrate our ability to carry out projects that contribute to the greening of electricity production in Albania while strengthening the national economy with competitive electricity, both locally and for export.”
