Wedoany.com Report-Oct 14, Polish builder Industria Project, involved in the design and supervision of the future turbine towers plant of Spanish offshore wind towers maker Windar Renovables in Poland, said the construction of the facility is about to begin.
A construction permit was issued on September 3 after the Spanish company and Szczecin Port Authority ratified in January the concession agreement for the 17-hectare port site where the facility will be built, the company said earlier this week. The plant itself is to start operating in the first half of 2026.
The factory will include four production lines for wind towers, including such of non-standard diametres, a raw material warehouse and assembly halls. Additionally, a parking lot with 100 spaces and access roads will be built. It is expected to create about 400 jobs.
In February 2022, Windar announced its intention to build an offshore wind turbine tower factory in Poland at the cost of EUR 80 million (USD 87.6m). It said it will be targeting mainly the Polish market, where some of the world’s largest offshore wind developers are operating, as well as emerging demand in other Baltic countries.
According to that initial announcement, the factory was designed to produce 100 towers per year and to enable serial production of sections of up to 450 tonnes, 10 metres (32.8 ft) in diameter and 50 metres in length.
The towers that will be made at the Szczecin site are meant to hold the new generation of 20-MW turbines, the company noted in another announcement
