Vietnam Railways has entered a memorandum of understanding with China Railway Signal & Communication covering cooperation on multiple railway projects. The arrangement follows efforts by Vietnam to draw on foreign funding and technology to increase capacity, including three lines connecting Hanoi with the Chinese border and a proposed high-speed route between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

According to an official statement, meetings between Vietnamese government representatives and China Railway Signal & Communication leadership have highlighted projects involving cross-border standard-gauge infrastructure and urban lines serving Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The company expressed interest in working on potential corridors and on introducing advanced signalling solutions along established routes. Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister has called for a faster construction pace for three cross-border lines, with discussions involving the company’s chairman taking place in Hanoi on 17 December.
