Four-Year Rail Agreement for GBRF to Carry Over Five Million Tonnes of Materials Across UK Routes

2024-12-24 11:36

Wedoany.com Report-Dec 24, Alongside its role in serving industry requirements, this rail operation is expected to lower pressure on roads and contribute to long-term environmental objectives by reducing the reliance on road-based haulage.

GB Railfreight (GBRf) and Aggregate Industries UK have agreed to extend their working arrangement by four years, covering the transport of materials from Bardon Hill and the Isle of Grain to various large-scale infrastructure sites across the country. This extension, building on more than a decade of collaboration, involves moving more than five million tonnes of material over the contract term.

Under the arrangement, an annual volume of approximately 600,000 tonnes of cement will be transported, contributing to ongoing construction needs and supporting the government’s stated objective of delivering 1.5 million new homes before the end of the current parliamentary period.
