Wedoany.com Report-Jan 23, Hyundai Motor noted that it signed a memorandum of understanding to expand the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell commuter buses with the Ministry of Environment, Wonder Mobility, Hyosung, and Samsung C&T at the Hyundai Motor Environmental Technology Research Institute located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on the 22nd.
This agreement focuses on converting vehicles operated by Wonder Mobility, the largest commuter bus operator in South Korea, to hydrogen fuel cell buses.
Wonder Mobility plans to introduce a total of 2,000 hydrogen fuel cell buses by 2030, and Hyundai Motor will produce and supply the Universe hydrogen fuel cell buses in a timely manner to meet this demand.
The Universe hydrogen fuel cell bus is equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell system with a maximum output of 180 kW and can travel up to 635 km on a single charge. It also features several advanced driver assistance systems, including
In addition, Hyundai Motor decided to expand the share of hydrogen fuel cell buses within the commuter buses operated by Hyosung and Everland.
Wonder Mobility plans to establish and operate a hydrogen refueling station within its existing garage, while Hyosung will actively review plans to expand the establishment of large-capacity commercial hydrogen refueling stations.
The Ministry of Environment will support the purchase and operation of vehicles through subsidies related to hydrogen fuel cell buses. Additionally, it plans to continuously allocate funds for subsidies related to the establishment of hydrogen refueling stations, actively supporting the expansion of charging infrastructure.
