Electrolysis installation of NPO Centrotech
Wedoany.com Report-Feb 12, Russia’s Glavgoskpertiza (General Directorate of State Expertise) has approved the project for the construction of a bench test complex for the production of hydrogen at Kola NPP. This followed examination of design documentation and the results of engineering surveys for construction of the bench test complex (SIK – Stendovovo Islitatelnovo Kompleksa).
Construction will be carried out at the Kola NPP site, where more than 8,000 square metres have been allocated for development. The site will host the necessary facilities combined with modern engineering systems.
“The design technology laid down in the complex will ensure the production of ecologically pure hydrogen using electricity developed by the nuclear power plant without emissions of carbon dioxide,” said Nikolai Rusakov, Deputy Director of Capital Construction at Kola NPP. “During the construction of SIK, Russian-made equipment will be used, including innovative electrolysis installations developed by Rosenergoatom, NPO Centrotech in Novouralsk and Rosatom’s fuel division.
The new facility is intended for hydrogen production by electrolysis of water, as well as its storage and further transportation. The productivity of the complex will be 200 normal cubic metres of hydrogen per hour. The developer of the project is the Rosenergoatom and the General Designer is the Research Centre Alfa Expert Diagnostics.
