Wedoany.com Report-Dec 18,TenneT has completed the onshore works in the IJmond region of the Netherlands required to connect three offshore wind farms.
Four years after the first underground drilling from the Westerhout estate in Beverwijk, the onshore works for the connection of the offshore wind farms Hollandse Kust (noord), (west Alpha) and (west Beta) have been completed.
The electricity cables have been installed at an average depth of 30 metres from 16 work sites in Heemskerk, Beverwijk and Velsen.
All work areas have been restored and transferred back to the landowners.
“This completes the visible work on land for the surrounding area,” said project director Jaap Nijland on behalf of TenneT.
He added: “In 2025, we will install the superstructure of the offshore socket on the base that is already 53 kilometres off the coast of Egmond aan Zee.
“We will then test the cable connection and the various systems.”
The third and final connection will be ready at the end of 2025, after which RWE can connect the OranjeWind offshore wind farm to the national high-voltage grid.
