Wedoany.com Report-Nov 15, Enginius has teamed up with Daimler Truck to extend the reach of its Citypower trucks across Europe, introducing innovative, emission-free transport solutions for urban and regional use.
The Citypower, available in both electric and hydrogen versions, offers flexibility and high performance tailored to modern logistics needs, with pre-orders starting in 2025.
Enginius, a brand under the Faun Group known for pioneering zero-emission vehicles, has recently entered into a strategic collaboration with Daimler Truck. This partnership aims to distribute Enginius’s Citypower trucks, a new 16-ton carrier truck model, across Europe, enhancing the company's presence in the urban and regional transport sectors.
Introduced at IAA Transportation in September, the Citypower truck distinguishes itself from its predecessor, the Bluepower model, by being available in both electric and hydrogen fuel cell variants. This versatility makes it well-suited to meet diverse transportation needs. The truck is built on a robust Mercedes Atengo 4x2 chassis and is designed for optimal maneuverability and visibility, essential for city traffic and regional deliveries.
The electric model of the Citypower features a powerful 280 kWh battery that provides a range of up to 300 km, making it ideal for urban transport. It boasts a payload capacity of 8.8 tons. In contrast, the hydrogen variant is equipped with a 32 kg hydrogen tank at 350 bar, allowing for a doubled range of up to 600 km and a higher payload capacity of 9.4 tons, suitable for longer regional routes.
The collaboration was formalized under the slogan "Say hi to CITYPOWER," where both Enginius and Daimler Truck expressed their commitment to advancing emission-free mobility. The purchase interest agreement signed between Enginius GmbH and Daimler Truck AG integrates Enginius's Citypower models into the Mercedes Benz truck teams' distribution network in Germany.
Burkard Oppmann, Managing Director of FAUN Group and CSO of Enginius GmbH, and Joachim Reiner, Head of Business Performance & Development Sales at Mercedes-Benz Trucks Germany, highlighted the synergistic benefits of this partnership. They emphasized that this alliance would allow them to address the growing demand for sustainable mobility solutions effectively.
The Citypower trucks are slated for pre-order in the first quarter of 2025, with initial deliveries of chassis expected by the end of the third quarter. The launch of these trucks marks a significant step towards sustainable logistics, providing customers with economically viable and environmentally friendly transport options that do not compromise on performance or utility.
