Wedoany.com Report-Feb 20, POET LLC, the largest biofuel producer in the world, and Tallgrass, a prominent infrastructure company, have signed agreements to connect POET's bioprocessing facility in Fairmont, Nebraska to Tallgrass's Trailblazer CO2 pipeline. The plan is to capture bioCO2 from the bioethanol production process at the POET facility and transport it for permanent underground sequestration in Wyoming. Tallgrass is converting an existing natural gas pipeline to transport CO2, minimizing the need for new infrastructure. The Trailblazer project is under construction and expected to start commercial operations in 2025, enabling the connection of POET Bioprocessing – Fairmont. This initiative will lower the carbon intensity of bioethanol, creating new market opportunities for Nebraska corn growers and bioethanol producers. Additionally, POET's commitment will provide direct funding to landowners and communities hosting the pipeline infrastructure under the Trailblazer Community Benefits Agreement. POET's founder and CEO, Jeff Broin, and Tallgrass's Segment President of CO2 Origination, Alison Nelson, both expressed excitement about the collaboration and its potential to benefit farmers, bioethanol producers, and rural communities in Nebraska and the Midwest.
