Union Pacific Shifts Local Service Operations in Eugene, Oregon, to Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad

2024-12-26 11:51

Wedoany.com Report-Dec 26, It is part of a collaborative effort between the two rail operators, aiming to adjust service management in the region.

Union Pacific Railroad has announced that it will transfer local service operations at its Eugene Yard in Oregon to Genesee & Wyoming’s (G&W) Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad (CORP).

The transition is expected to streamline the handling of railcars and optimize operational efficiency. CORP, a G&W short line railroad, will assume responsibility for local service, while Union Pacific focuses on long-haul freight operations from the Eugene Yard.

The plan is subject to approval by the Surface Transportation Board, with both railroads engaging customers to facilitate a seamless transition. Union Pacific has communicated with employees affected by the changes, providing details about potential employment opportunities within CORP or across G&W’s network. Employees involved in long-distance freight operations will remain based at Eugene Yard.
