Wedoany.com Report-Nov 7, Bahjat Al-Adwan, Director of Natural Resources Projects Directorate at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, stated that recent studies and explorations revealed approximately 9.4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in the Risha Field.
Al-Adwan added that the natural gas quantities are commercially viable and the Risha gas field is owned by the state-owned National Petroleum Company, according Al-Mamlaka.
According to Al-Adwan’s statement, the natural gas found at Al Risha will require the construction of a dedicated pipeline to transport the gas to the capital, Amman, and Zarqa for commercial use. He added that the pipeline could be completed within two to three years.
On another note, the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), the central development arm of the ASEZA, and Egypt Gas, a natural gas distribution company, signed an agreement to supply Al Quweira Industrial City in Aqaba with natural gas.
The agreement includes the construction of a natural gas pipeline network, the development of necessary infrastructure, and the operation and maintenance of the facility, including safety systems.
Additionally, the Jordanian and Egyptian ministers discussed the recent findings at Al Risha, along with the construction of a 300-kilometer pipeline needed to connect to the Arab Gas Pipeline, a major natural gas network in the Middle East.
