2024-11-11 16:53

Wedoany.com Report-Nov 11, Seaway7, part of the Subsea7 Group, has been awarded a contract by ScottishPower Renewables for the transport and installation of the inter-array cables for the 960 MW East Anglia Two offshore wind project in the UK.

The deal is worth between USD 150 million and USD 300 million, as per Subsea7’s definition of a substantial contract.

Seaway7’s scope of work for East Anglia Two includes the engineering, supply, and installation of the 64 inter-array cables. Execution of the scope will be led from the company’s Aberdeen office in the UK, with offshore activities scheduled to commence in 2027.

This is not the first time ScottishPower Renewables awarded Seaway7 a contract for the installation of inter-array cables. Iberdrola’s UK division also entered into an inter-array cable contract with Seaway7 in 2023 for the East Anglia Three offshore wind project.

“It’s great to confirm so much of our supply chain for East Anglia TWO on the back of achieving our CfD and we look forward to building on the positive working relationship we already have with Seaway7 on East Anglia THREE”, said Charlie Jordan, CEO of ScottishPower Renewables.

“Getting our EA TWO supply chain in place through confirmed contracts like this means we’re ready to hit the ground – and water! – running and bring another gigawatt of clean, green energy to life, making a real difference for people, places and planet for decades to come”.

Sif and Smulders will supply the monopile foundations and transition pieces for the 960 MW project, while Cadeler will handle the installation of the wind turbines and foundations.

The East Anglia Two offshore wind farm will be located around 33 kilometres from the east coast of England in the Southern North Sea.

East Anglia Two is one of three approved offshore wind developments that, along with the already operational East Anglia One, will make up the East Anglia Hub. Together, these projects aim to provide 4 GW of renewable energy generation capacity upon completion.
