Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 14, On April 9, Montauk Renewables Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Tulsa LFG LLC, began construction on a renewable natural gas (RNG) project at the American Environmental Landfill Inc. (AEL) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of a significant initiative to convert landfill gas into a sustainable energy source.
The project includes an extended agreement with AEL, securing gas rights and lease terms. The new RNG facility features a flexible design to handle varying gas inputs, with an expected daily production capacity of around 1,500 MMBtu. This capacity will allow the facility to process all available gas from the landfill, which has seen increased supply due to Montauk’s recent investments in the site’s infrastructure.
“Montauk is excited to announce the development of our new RNG facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in continued support of AEL, one of our most prized relationships in our portfolio,” said Sean McClain, Montauk Renewables CEO. “We believe this project is indicative of our core growth strategy, to align ourselves with exemplary host businesses, and synchronize their growth needs with our development initiatives. The strong historical and continued growth of available feedstock at this project location is a great example of how successful these partnerships can be.”
The company estimates the project will require an investment of $25 million to $35 million. Construction is progressing with a goal to begin operations in the first quarter of 2027. The facility aims to contribute to sustainable energy production while strengthening Montauk’s collaboration with AEL.
This development reflects Montauk’s commitment to expanding renewable energy solutions through strategic partnerships and innovative technology. The Tulsa project is poised to support local energy needs and promote environmental benefits by utilizing landfill gas efficiently.
