Wedoany.com Report-Mar 31, Authorities in Haryana have recently invited detailed project proposals for two new metro lines in Gurgaon, a tech hub located 30km southwest of Delhi. The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) is seeking bids for a 17km line connecting Bhondsi to Gurgaon Railway Station, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion on Sohna Road and National Highway 8. Additionally, a 13.6km line will link Golf Course Extension Road to Sector 5, intended to connect new business areas with older residential zones in Gurgaon.

The shorter metro line is projected to intersect with the Delhi Yellow Line at the Millennium City Centre Station, where the Yellow Line currently terminates. Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) mobility advisor Yash Sachdeva highlighted that these routes will cover the most densely populated areas and key business districts. Once operational, a large number of people will benefit from enhanced connectivity.

Furthermore, Sachdeva mentioned that the two new lines are part of a broader plan by the city to expand its metro network by 2031. These routes are expected to eventually connect with the Delhi Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), a 164km semi-high-speed rail corridor linking Delhi, Gurgaon, Rewari, Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror, and Alwar.

This initiative underscores the city's commitment to improving public transportation and addressing urban development goals.
