Wedoany.com Report-Dec 18, Alstom has signed two major contracts with OnTrain sp. z o.o. to supply a total of 40 third-generation Traxx Universal multi-system locomotives, with an option for a further 20 additional units.

Alstom has announced the signature of two contracts with OnTrain sp. z o.o. in Poland. The first contract provides for the supply of 35 third-generation Traxx Universal multisystem locomotives, with an option for OnTrain to purchase a further 20 units. The vehicles under this contract will have operating authority in Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia.

Under the second contract, Alstom will supply five third-generation Traxx Universal multisystem locomotives authorized to operate in the Eastern Corridor, which covers Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. The purchase of the above locomotives by WBW2 sp. z o.o., operating under the OnTrain brand, will take place within the framework of the contract awarded in November 2024 for the supply of 5 units of brand new emission-free electric multiple-unit locomotives, together with their maintenance during the warranty period within the scope of maintenance levels: p1 to p3.

With the signing of this agreement, Alstom will supply OnTrain with a total of 40 third-generation Traxx Universal multi-system locomotives, which will increase to 60 with the exercise of an additional option for 20 locomotives, making OnTrain Alstom's largest customer for this type of locomotive in this part of Europe. Alstom and OnTrain have also signed contracts for the preventive maintenance of the purchased rolling stock during the warranty period, in addition to the locomotive supply contracts.

“We are seeing increasing interest in leasing modern locomotives. Poland is investing and will continue to invest huge resources in the coming years in the modernisation and construction of rail transport corridors. This will be further enhanced by the continuing dynamic development of intermodal transport. Poland's growing economic position, however, is not matched by statistics on the age and efficiency of the rolling stock used by hauliers,“ said Piotr Ignasiak CEO of OnTrain and added: „The purchase of Traxx 3 multi-system locomotives is part of our strategy to offer our customers locomotives that meet the highest expectations and will contribute to the positive environmental impact of rail transport. This is possible thanks to the involvement of investors Marguerite, Griffin Capital Partners and WBW Invest.”
