Standen Unveils SR300 Three-Row Trailed Potato Planter

2025-03-17 16:43

Wedoany.com Report-Mar 17, A versatile combination of three- or two-row bed planting can be achieved with the three-row version of Standen Engineering’s “SR” cup-type trailed potato planter.

The new model comes hot on the heels of the four-row SR400 introduced last year, and the two-row SR200 in 2023, so engineers were able to draw on plenty of commercial experience of the working concept in developing the SR300.

Standen sales director Edward Gilbert said:

“The new model is perfect for growers working lighter land who want to increase their planting density and yields, while the ability to quickly convert it into a two-row planter by turning off the central row makes it a versatile addition to a grower’s kit.”

Priced at about £75,000 on farm, depending on options chosen, the newcomer is set up to work on 1.8m or 2m beds operating at up to 10kph.

It can place seed of any size thanks to the adjustable conveying cups as featured on the SR200 and SR400.

Feed belt

The cups are fed from a 2.5t capacity tipping hopper via a feed belt that is sensor activated to minimise the risk of damaging chitted seed.

A touchscreen in the tractor cab is used to set the spacing, depth and pressure of the forming hood, with pressure control automatically raising and lowering the hood in work.

Openers in a staggered formation aim to provide consistent, free-flowing soil movement as planting progresses, particularly in damp, sandy soils.

The SR300 features steering work and transport wheels mounted at the back of the chassis to keep headlands to a minimum.

Automatic levelling maintains an even keel when operating across sloping ground.
