Wedoany.com Report-Dec 30, In December 2024, three new six-axle diesel locomotives appeared on Spanish rails – owned by a single leasing company, operated by two freight rail carriers.

Alpha Trains is, among other regions, successful in leasing locomotives on the Iberian Peninsula. Apart from 30 Euro4000 diesel locomotives (ordered in 2007), a regular sight in Spanish and Portuguese rails, the Luxembourg-based rolling stock company also has their next-gen locomotives on order. These locomotives, designated as Euro4001, made an appearance earlier – when nine of them started the operation for Captrain France, and they are also moving trains for paper industry, operated by Portren in Uruguay.

At the end of 2024, these locomotives, made for the Iberian 1,668 mm gauge, started to appear in Spain. Alpha Trains leased two locomotives to Medway and one to CSP Logitren. They received a Class 337 designation.

Alpha Trains is also successful in deploying of the electric Stadler Euro6000 locomotives, also made in Alubuixech plant near Valencia. They are both for Iberian and standard gauge and have been leased to Transfesa or Captrain Espana. There are more customers awaiting these locomotives – among them Low Cost Rail, or Rail & Truck Strait Union. Both latter will also receive four of the aforementioned Class 337 diesel locomotives.

Euro6000 locomotives will also soon appear in a new CFL Cargo livery. Four locomotives were leased by Alpha Trains for a standard-gauge corridor connecting Luxembourg with Spain via the Figueres-Perpignan high-speed line.
