Cadeler Secures Contracts For 960mw East Anglia Two Offshore Wind Farm

Wedoany.com Report-Nov 6,  Cadeler has secured contracts for the transportation and installation of offshore wind turbine generators (WTG) and foundations at the 960MW East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm in the southern North Sea.

The contracts have been awarded by ScottishPower Renewables, the developer of the East Anglia TWO project. They are valued between €360m and €382m.

ScottishPower Renewables CEO Charlie Jordan said: “Following our recent auction success, we’ve been moving with pace and purpose to confirm the supply chain for East Anglia TWO, so it’s great to have Cadeler on board supporting this vital clean energy project, which will power almost one million homes with green electricity.”

The offshore wind farm entails an investment of £4bn. It is being developed roughly 32.6km from the Suffolk coast at its closest point to Southwold and 37.5km to Lowestoft.

The East Anglia TWO project is part of the 2.9GW the East Anglia Hub. Other offshore wind farms in the hub are East Anglia ONE North and East Anglia THREE.

According to ScottishPower Renewables, the East Anglia TWO project will produce enough clean energy to power the equivalent of approximately 950,000 households per year. It will feature 64 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 15MW.

Set to begin in 2027, the offshore work will utilise one of Cadeler’s new A-class vessels, along with an O-class vessel from its existing fleet.

The East Anglia TWO project was among several awarded capacity in the UK government’s latest offshore wind auction, announced in September 2024. The wind facility is expected to make significant contributions towards the UK’s 2030 clean energy objectives.

Once completed, the offshore wind farm is projected to operate for up to 25 years.

The contracts stem from a reservation agreement between Cadeler and ScottishPower Renewables, which was initially disclosed in May 2024.
