Wedoany.com Report-Jan 25, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) and French renewable hydrogen producer Lhyfe have entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore potential co-development opportunities in large-scale green hydrogen production projects in Europe.
As disclosed, through this strategic partnership, the parties aim to explore collaboration and investment opportunities across the green hydrogen value chain, with a focus on co-developing large projects.
The MoU was signed during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2025, a global platform supported by the UAE and Masdar to address the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges through conversations.
To note, Masdar is aiming for a renewable energy portfolio capacity of 100 GW by 2030, supporting the target set in the UAE Consensus to triple global renewables capacity by the end of this decade, and aims to be a leading producer of green hydrogen by the same year. The company has set a target of 1 million tonnes per annum of green hydrogen or equivalent derivatives in the UAE and globally within a decade.
In 2024, Masdar signed agreements with Norwegian companies to explore clean energy opportunities with green hydrogen in focus. Specifically, the UAE company inked agreements with Equinor, ICP Infrastructure, Aker Horizons Asset Development and Yara.
