Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 14, On April 10, Geely Auto’s Galaxy brand launched presales for the Xingyao 8, a mid-to-large plug-in hybrid sedan, at its headquarters in Hangzhou. The model is offered in five trims, with prices ranging from 139,800 yuan to 173,800 yuan. The event attracted industry professionals, media, and prospective buyers, highlighting Geely’s latest advancements in design and technology.
The Xingyao 8 features two powertrain options: the NordThor EM-P Super Hybrid and the NordThor EM-i Super Hybrid system. The EM-i variant achieves a thermal efficiency of 46.5% and, paired with an 11-in-1 E-DHT drive unit, offers a fuel consumption rate of 3.36L/100km under CLTC standards. The EM-P version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.49 seconds, with a fuel consumption of 3.67L/100km. Both systems ensure a balance of performance and efficiency, supported by front MacPherson struts, rear five-link suspension, and adaptive dampers. The sedan stops from 100 km/h in just 34.5 meters.
Inspired by “Ripple Aesthetics,” the Xingyao 8’s design integrates traditional Chinese elements with modern innovation. Its exterior features “flying-eave tiger-gaze” headlights, a sleek “jade-like” profile, and tail lamps evoking a sunrise. Available in six colors, such as Jihai Blue and Shanhe Green, the sedan reflects a distinctly Chinese luxury style. Frameless windows, flush door handles, and 19-inch alloy wheels enhance its contemporary appeal.
Inside, the cabin showcases craftsmanship with motifs like “Three Pools Mirroring the Moon.” Soft-touch materials cover 85% of surfaces, complemented by suede-like finishes. Color options, including sandalwood brown and obsidian grey, create a refined atmosphere. The powered seats provide heating, ventilation, and eight-point massage functions for comfort. A standout feature is the 23-speaker Flyme Sound system, delivering 2,000W of power and 7.1.4 surround sound.
The Xingyao 8 introduces Geely’s “G-Pilot” driver-assistance system, enabling highway navigation and evasive maneuver support. The Galaxy Flyme Auto cockpit, integrated with the DeepSeek language model, offers voice-activated controls with a recognition rate of 93% and response times under 400ms. According to a Geely spokesperson: “This system allows drivers to interact naturally, making every journey intuitive and connected.”
The presale launch in Hangzhou underscored Geely’s commitment to blending cultural heritage with cutting-edge technology, positioning the Xingyao 8 as a competitive option in the plug-in hybrid market. Customers can place orders through Geely’s authorized dealerships nationwide, with deliveries expected to begin later this year.
