Wedoany.com Report-Nov 1, Liverpool had the highest number of confirmed gas thefts in the north-west of England over the past year, according to gas company Cadent.
Gas theft is when thieves tamper with gas pipes and bypass gas meters.
Figures from April 2023 to July 2024 showed Liverpool had 269 confirmed gas thefts compared with Manchester's 179.
Cadent's director of safety, Dave Garner, said gas thefts could create leaks which could "go on to create a gas explosion which can have devastating consequences".
