2025-03-18 15:27

Wedoany.com Report-Mar 18, T1 Energy (NYSE: TE), formerly FREYR Battery, has revealed the location of its new US solar cell factory, set to be one of the largest in the country.

The site, according to T1 Energy’s Q4 and full-year 2024 report released today, is in Milam County, Texas, in the Advanced Manufacturing and Logistix Campus at Sandow Lakes. The campus will be known as G2 Austin.

T1 Energy’s factory is expected to be one of the largest solar manufacturing facilities in the US, with a capital investment of up to $850 million. It’s expected to create up to 1,800 new direct US advanced manufacturing jobs. Construction is on track to kick off in mid-2025.

On December 24, FREYR announced closing its acquisition of China-headquartered Trina Solar’s 5-gigawatt (GW), 1.35 million-square-foot solar panel factory in Wilmer, Texas. The company renamed the factory G1 Dallas, employing more than 1,000 people. T1 says the solar panel production ramp is on schedule.

Daniel Barcelo, T1’s chairman of the board and CEO, said, “Our teams are making impressive progress with the ramp of US solar module production at G1 Dallas, we are moving forward swiftly with project development of our planned G2 Austin US solar cell facility, and we are executing our global corporate transformation to build a cash flow powerhouse.”

With G2 Austin joining G1 Dallas and T1’s new global headquarters in Austin, the company’s three Texas Triangle facilities now total over $1.1 billion in investments.

Barcelo says the company’s plan is to become “an American, vertically integrated solar + battery storage leader.”
