Orano to Supply Enrichment Services to Ukraine

Wedoany.com Report-Mar 13, France’s Orano and Ukrainian nuclear utility Energoatom have signed a long-term commercial agreement for the supply of enrichment services until 2040. The agreement was signed in Vienna by Energoatom Acting President Petro Kotin and Orano CEO Nicolas Maes in presence Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Energoatom Yarek Neverovich. The contract guarantees Energoatom a reliable and diversified supply of enrichment services to provide fuel for Ukraine’s NPPs.

“Energoatom continues to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security. Uranium enrichment is one of the important stages in the process of nuclear fuel production,” said Kotin. “The agreement allows our state to plan a stable, bright future, relying on the operation of nuclear power plants.” He noted Ukraine’s plans to expand nuclear capacity, means that Energoatom’s need for uranium enrichment services will only grow in the future.

“We are proud to accompany Energoatom in its development to reinforce Ukraine’s energy independence,”! said Maes. “This agreement reflects our commitment to provide our customer with support and thus contribute to European energy security.”
