Rosatom Starts Building a 300 MW Wind Power Plant in Daghestan, Russia

Wedoany.com Report-Dec 03,Rosatom Renewable Energy, a unit of the Russian nuclear company Rosatom, has begun construction of a 300 MW onshore wind project in the Republic of Daghestan, in south-western Russia. Rosatom said the wind park will become the largest in the country once completed.

The project will be carried out in two phases, the first of which involves the installation and commissioning of 61 wind turbines totalling a capacity of 152. 5 MW. The second phase will see the installation of 59 wind turbines totalling 147.5 MW. Each turbine will have a capacity of 2.5 MW. Completion of the first phase is scheduled for 2025, while completion of the second phase is expected by 2026. Once completed, the project will be able to generate 879 GWh/year.

As of end-2023, wind energy represented less than 1% of Russia’s installed capacity with 2.5 GW. The country currently has over 4 GW of wind under a development phase.
