Wedoany.com Report-Feb 9, AFC Energy has announced the launch of their new 2nd Generation H-Power S+ 200kW generator, marking a significant advancement in hydrogen power technology for construction and off-grid power applications. This latest model builds on the successes of the first-generation prototype developed with support from ABB, offering improvements in size, weight, and cost-efficiency.
The new H-Power S+ 200kW Genset is now 34% smaller, 28% lighter, and 65% cheaper, making it more accessible and easier to deploy in various settings. These enhancements are part of AFC Energy's commitment to lowering barriers to adoption as the market for hydrogen power solutions evolves.
This development is supported by the Red Diesel Replacement Grant, highlighting the unit's readiness for immediate field deployment. The first installation will be at a Brett Aggregates site, where it will power facility operations, demonstrating its capability in a real-world environment.
AFC Energy's efforts are part of the broader RDR programme, administered by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. This programme focuses on supporting the construction, mining, and quarrying sectors with up to £40 million of matched funding from the £1 billion Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP). This funding aims to accelerate the commercialization of innovative clean energy technologies and processes throughout the 2020s and 2030s, contributing significantly to the UK's net-zero targets.
