Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 14, Peab, a Nordic construction and civil engineering firm, has been awarded a contract to build a new residential complex with 100 units in Lindvallen, Sweden. The project, commissioned by Skiab—a joint venture between SkiStar and Peab—is valued at Skr135m ($13m).
The building is aiming to achieve Miljöbyggnad Silver certification standards.
The development involves constructing 100 rental apartments in a two-storey building with a wooden exterior, located in a growing district near Lindvallen’s commercial area. The structure will meet Miljöbyggnad Silver certification standards, ensuring sustainable design. Peab regional manager Fredrik Timan stated: “We have broad experience and employees with a high level of expertise in building in a mountain environment. This is an attractive area and a growing and developing destination.”
The project will add approximately 600 guest beds for the 2026-2027 ski season, enhancing Lindvallen’s appeal as a tourist destination. Henrik Lundmark, property director of SkiStar, said: “It feels good to continue to deliver memorable mountain experiences to even more guests.” The development aligns with efforts to accommodate increasing visitor numbers while maintaining quality.
Structured as a turnkey contract, construction is scheduled to begin this month and is expected to be completed by November 2026. Peab will record the order in its books during the second quarter of 2025. Skiab Invest MD Matilda Öberg commented: “The project in Sälen is a key element of Skiab’s work to develop modern, high-quality and sustainable housing in the Swedish mountains. We’re therefore really pleased that we’ve succeeded in realising this project in a great location in Lindvallen.”
This initiative reflects Peab’s expertise in delivering environmentally conscious construction in challenging terrains. The apartments will cater to both seasonal visitors and the region’s long-term growth, contributing to Lindvallen’s development as a vibrant mountain destination.
Beyond this project, Peab has recently secured a contract to expand a smolt facility in Bjørnafjorden, Norway, and collaborated with Södra to promote sustainable construction practices through the ECO hybrid frame solution. These efforts highlight the company’s commitment to innovative and eco-friendly building methods.
The Lindvallen housing project strengthens Peab’s portfolio while supporting Skiab’s vision of creating sustainable, high-quality accommodations. By integrating modern design with environmental standards, the development will enhance the region’s infrastructure and provide lasting benefits for visitors and the local community alike.
