Wedoany.com Report-Nov 11, The China Energy Investment Corporation (CEIC or CHN Energy) has started operations on the 3 GW Mengxi Blue Ocean solar power complex located near Ordos, in China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region. The power plant is touted by CHN Energy as China's largest single-unit coal subsidence solar PV base. With a total investment of around CNY12bn (US$1.6bn), the solar power plant features over 5.9 million solar panels and is expected to produce 5.7 TWh/year. It will deliver renewable power from Inner Mongolia to about 2 million households in the eastern Chinese Province of Shandong.
Solar power capacity in China soared by 55% in 2023 to nearly 610 GW, while wind power installed capacity rose by nearly 21%, surpassing 441 GW. The Chinese Government has committed to build 1,200 GW of renewables capacity by 2030. The country plans to achieve peak emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.
