Wedoany.com Report-Dec 26, The project covers both design and approval work, followed by initial serial production of ten units, with an option available for an additional 110.
VR FleetCare, together with Bane NOR, the Norwegian Defence Materiel Administration, and the Swedish Defence Forces, has entered into an agreement for the design and series production of new heavy transport wagons intended for defence material movements by rail.
These 6-axle wagons, constructed to withstand Arctic T2 conditions, are designed for heavy equipment transport on Nordic tracks. The structural and technical specifications address challenges posed by snow, ice, and low temperatures. The wagons will accommodate compatibility with NATO-class equipment and meet the requirements of local infrastructure.
Initial planning has commenced, and production is scheduled for 2025. Manufacturing will take place at VR FleetCare’s Pieksämäki engineering workshop, which has previously produced other types of freight wagons. The workshop’s production lines also handle raw timber and tank wagons, while other wagon concepts, including modular freight variants, remain under development.
