Wedoany.com Report-Jan 2, The CR450 electric multiple unit (EMU) prototype was officially presented in Beijing as part of the CR450 Science and Technology Innovation Project.
Developed by subsidiaries of CRRC Corporation, Qingdao CRRC Sifang Rolling Stock, and CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles, the prototype comprises two models: the CR450AF and CR450BF. Both models are designed for an operational speed of 400 km/h and a maximum testing speed of 450 km/h.
The CR450 series integrates multiple advancements in performance, including energy efficiency, braking systems, noise reduction, and intelligent technology systems. The design reduces train resistance by 22% and overall weight by 10%, contributing to lower energy consumption. Noise levels inside the passenger cabin have been reduced by two decibels, and service space has been increased by four percent.
In terms of safety, the braking system has been optimized for shorter stopping distances while maintaining stability at higher speeds. The series also incorporates advanced control systems, intelligent driver interaction technology, safety monitoring tools, and upgraded passenger service features.
The CR450 EMU prototype introduces a range of technologies addressing aerodynamic efficiency, lightweight construction, vibration and noise management, and intelligent system integration. These design updates support operations at sustained high speeds while aiming to improve reliability and efficiency.
The development of the CR450 models aligns with ongoing trends in high-speed rail technology, focusing on balancing speed, safety, and sustainability in railway transportation systems. Further testing and validation processes are expected to follow this introduction to prepare the models for future operational deployment.
