Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 2, Navantia Seanergies has finished loading out the HVDC substation jacket for the 1200MW Dogger Bank C offshore wind platform. This component, along with its platform, will be installed at the UK offshore wind project, developed by SSE Renewables, Equinor, and Vargronn.
As a subcontractor to Aibel, Navantia Seanergies handled the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tasks. The substation jacket was loaded out at the company’s Puerto Real shipyard in Spain. Measuring 37 meters by 38 meters, standing 46 meters tall, and weighing 2,900 tonnes, the jacket posed a notable engineering task.
Navantia described the load-out as a “complex operation,” requiring close teamwork among technicians and engineers from multiple departments. The successful completion marks a key step in preparing the jacket for its role in the Dogger Bank C project.
Located off Yorkshire’s east coast, Dogger Bank C is the third phase of the 3.6GW Dogger Bank development, poised to be the world’s largest offshore wind farm. Navantia’s work supports this ambitious renewable energy effort, contributing to the infrastructure needed for clean power generation in the UK.
