Wedoany.com Report-Jan 3, The final objective is to create conditions that allow dispatchers to handle train movements from within a centralized facility.
PKP LHS, the manager of broad-gauge infrastructure in Poland, plans to extend the Huta Deręgowska LHS passing loop and install automatic traffic control systems at Wola Baranowska LHS station. The contract was awarded to a consortium of companies from Bytom and Radom, and covers technological upgrades intended to streamline freight movements over nearly 100 km of track.
Part of the project involves establishing a Local Control Centre at Wola Baranowska LHS, constructing a new control room, and deploying computerized traffic management equipment. These elements are intended to cut down on the time needed to receive and dispatch trains, reduce on-track pedestrian movement, and increase workplace safety. The station’s track system will be refurbished, with electric heating on turnouts for continued operations in challenging winter conditions. Plans also include a new access road and additional station lighting.
The entire investment exceeds EUR 34 million. By integrating remote traffic control along the broad-gauge line, operators aim to oversee movement from a single point, offering higher flexibility for customers. According to available information, PKP LHS is experiencing a growth in traffic from Ukraine and has chosen to modernize sections of the network in response.
