Wedoany.com Report-Dec 18, AnimaWings has taken delivery of Romania’s first ever Airbus A220-300 after the aircraft arrived from the planemaker’s Mirabel facility in Canada.

The Airbus A220-300 is the first of four joining the AnimaWings fleet as part of an agreement signed with US-based aircraft lessor Azorra.

The brand-new A220-300 is part of Azorra’s firm order book with Airbus and becomes the company’s third delivery of the aircraft type to an airline customer.

“Welcoming our first Airbus A220-300 marks a significant milestone in our growth strategy, allowing us to modernize our operations and deliver exceptional travel experiences for our customers. With its unparalleled efficiency and superior passenger comfort, this advanced aircraft enables us to commit to delivering connectivity to sought-after destinations such as Dubai, Cluj, Iasi, Oradea, Paris, Larnaca or Stockholm,” said Marius Pandel, Co-Owner of AnimaWings.

Pandel added: “Our partnership with Azorra has been instrumental in helping us take this significant step, and we value their expertise and collaboration in shaping the future of our fleet.”

Benoît Schultz, CEO, Airbus Canada, said the delivery was “another milestone for the A220 as the Romania-based airline will become the tenth A220 operator in Europe”.

“Thanks to the A220 innovative cabin features, the AnimaWings’ passengers will enjoy a superior flying experience. Moreover, as a latest-generation aircraft, the A220 brings 25% lower CO2 emissions per seat compared to previous generation aircraft. We thank both Azorra and AnimaWings for their trust,” added Schultz.

Airbus A220-300 operators include Lufthansa, Egyptair, Delta Air Lines and airBaltic, which has an entire fleet made up from the aircraft type.

The A220-300 was originally manufactured by Canada-based Bombardier but came under Airbus control in 2018 after the firm purchased a majority stake.

“We are proud to deliver the first new Airbus A220-300 to our friends at AnimaWings, made possible through our strong relationship with Airbus. This marks a significant milestone as the first of its type in Romania. With its unmatched performance and efficiency, this aircraft is perfectly suited to support AnimaWings growth objectives and will play a vital role in the future of aviation in Romania,” said John Evans, CEO and Founder of Azorra.
