Hamburg Rolls Out First Hydrogen Bus Into Regular Public Transport Service, Backed by Expanding H2 Infrastructure

They are capable of traveling over 350 kilometers on a single charge, making them ideal for demanding urban routes. Furthermore, refueling at a 350-bar pressure station is quick, taking just a few minutes, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless operation.

Hamburg's fleet utilizes the H2 MOBILITY filling station near Hamburg Airport, which is part of a growing network of 350-bar hydrogen refueling sites across the city. This infrastructure is designed to support commercial vehicle fleets, including buses, enhancing the real-world viability of hydrogen mobility.

Falk A.B. Schulte-Wintrop, Director of OEM & Business Strategy at H2 MOBILITY, emphasized the significance of the new stations, stating: "With the three 350-bar-capable H2 MOBILITY filling stations in Hamburg, we are ensuring reliable fuel supply for these vehicles, enabling essential added value for climate-friendly electromobility. The short refueling times, long range, and consistent performance, regardless of weather conditions, make these buses a compelling alternative to traditional combustion engines and even battery-powered models."

H2 MOBILITY also announced plans to expand its hydrogen refueling capacity in Hamburg in response to growing demand, particularly in the commercial transport sector. This move underscores the city's dedication to advancing hydrogen technology for sustainable transportation.
