Adani Unit Awards HVDC Contract for Renewable Energy Transmission

2025-04-07 16:47

Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 7, Adani Energy Solutions Ltd., through its subsidiary Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Limited, has assigned a contract for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) terminals to facilitate the transfer of renewable energy from Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh. The agreement involves a consortium of Hitachi Energy and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), tasked with designing and constructing these terminals. This setup will channel clean energy from the Bhadla region, known for its renewable resources, to Fatehpur, a key industrial and transportation center.

The HVDC technology offers an effective solution for transmitting renewable energy across long distances. Its ability to support two-way energy flow enhances grid reliability and accelerates power distribution, aiding India’s efforts to integrate more sustainable energy sources into its system. This infrastructure supports the country’s growing emphasis on clean energy consumption.

Spanning 950 kilometers, the 6-gigawatt HVDC link has the capacity to supply electricity to around 60 million households in India. This initiative strengthens the connection between renewable energy production in Rajasthan and the energy needs of Uttar Pradesh, contributing to a more balanced and sustainable power network.

The collaboration between Adani Energy Solutions, Hitachi Energy, and BHEL underscores a coordinated effort to advance India’s energy infrastructure. By leveraging HVDC technology, the project ensures efficient energy delivery, meeting the demands of both industrial and residential users in Fatehpur while supporting broader environmental goals.
