Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 3, Canadian Solar has partnered with Flow Power to provide its anti-hail module technology for a solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in the Coonawarra wine region of South Australia. This marks the first use of anti-hail solar panels in Australia, enhancing the durability of renewable energy installations. The initial phase of the Coonawarra project, involving the setup of solar modules, is scheduled to start in the spring and summer of 2025, with completion expected within the year.

Canadian Solar’s technology is engineered to protect solar panels from harsh weather, such as hailstorms, improving their longevity and performance. This collaboration builds on Canadian Solar’s broader efforts in renewable energy. In January 2025, its e-STORAGE division secured a deal to supply two gigawatt hours (GWh) of battery storage to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners for two large-scale projects in Scotland. The Coonawarra project, however, stands out as a pioneering step in Australia, blending solar power with advanced protective technology to meet the region’s energy needs sustainably.
The deployment in South Australia’s wine region underscores a practical approach to addressing environmental challenges while advancing clean energy goals.
