Wedoany.com Report-Nov 7 ,Taiwan-based offshore wind service player Dong Fang Offshore has won a contract for its newbuild SOV from Danish wind turbine manufacturing giant Vestas.
The vessel will support the operations and maintenance phase for the Changfang-Xidao and Zhong Neng projects, with a firm contract duration of 12 years. The SOV is the first of two units that have already been ordered and will be delivered in the last quarter of 2026 from the shipyard.
The vessel has been built to the highest European standards and meets or exceeds the requirements of the offshore wind industry.
“We are pleased that both SOVs we have ordered have secured long-term charters in Taiwan, ensuring that Dong Fang’s experienced Taiwanese and expatriate staff will have long-term, stable employment,” said Polin Chen, CEO of DFO.
The company won a contract for its first CSOV newbuild in July from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners for work on the Fengmiao I offshore wind project. The vessel will be delivered in the first quarter of 2027. Both of the newbuilds will sail under the flag of Taiwan.
As for the two wind farms, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners completed the construction of the 600MW Changfang-Xidao project in May this year. This was the company’s first offshore wind farm in the Asia Pacific region. The same company marked the completion of its second offshore wind farm in the region, the 300MW Zhong Neng, in early September.
