Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 11, Greening, through its U.S. subsidiary Greening USA, has formed a joint venture with Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure to co-develop renewable energy projects across the United States. The collaboration focuses on advancing photovoltaic solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS), either as integrated or standalone installations.
The projects will be located in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator South (MISO South) and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) regions. The partnership leverages a project pipeline from Greening USA, totaling approximately 1,000 MWac of solar and BESS capacity, combined with Atlantica’s financial expertise in sustainable infrastructure investments.
This joint venture integrates Greening’s technical knowledge with Atlantica’s experience in funding eco-friendly initiatives, enabling the development of projects up to the ready-to-build (RtB) stage. At that point, the partners will decide whether to allocate assets between themselves or sell them to a third party. The agreement also includes plans to identify and incorporate additional renewable energy and storage projects into the joint venture in the coming years.
The collaboration aims to deliver renewable and storage solutions that enhance grid reliability and support local sustainability goals. By streamlining project execution, financing, and deployment, the partnership aligns with both companies’ commitments to fostering sustainable energy systems while creating long-term value for stakeholders.
Ignacio Salcedo, chief executive of Greening, stated: “This partnership marks a significant milestone in our US expansion strategy. By combining our technical expertise with Atlantica’s experience as a leading infrastructure investor, we are building a strong platform for developing high-quality renewable projects in one of our core markets.”
Greening is focused on growing its U.S. project portfolio, taking advantage of the country’s increasing energy needs. The joint venture supports the objectives outlined in Greening’s Strategic Plan, released on May 10, 2024, which emphasized partnering with financial collaborators to drive project development.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to accelerating the transition to clean energy. By combining solar and storage technologies, the projects aim to meet rising electricity demand while contributing to a more resilient and sustainable energy grid. The initiative is expected to create opportunities for innovation and collaboration in the renewable energy sector, benefiting communities in the MISO South and SPP regions.
This alliance positions Greening and Atlantica to play a key role in advancing renewable energy infrastructure, ensuring efficient and impactful project delivery across the United States.
