Seaboard Marine Adds Third LNG-Powered Newbuild to the Fleet

Wedoany.com Report-Jan 7,With 247.9 meters in length and a capacity of 3,500 TEU and over 1,000 refrigerated container plugs, Seaboard Verde will serve ports across the Americas, including Moin, Costa Rica; Colon, Panama; Kingston, Jamaica; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Philadelphia; and Brooklyn.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery from China’s Taizhou Sanfu Shipbuilding in March this year, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

Seaboard Verde is the third of eight LNG-powered newbuilds set to join Seaboard Marine’s fleet in 2025.

Its sister vessels, Seaboard Voyager and Seaboard Victory, were delivered in August and November 2024, respectively.

Powered by LNG, the containerships are expected to reduce emissions while improving operational efficiency and reinforcing Seaboard Marine’s commitment to greener shipping.

In addition to LNG-powered newbuilds, Seaboard Marine purchased Seaboard Blue, which was retrofitted to run on both LNG and diesel fuel, in 2023.

It was the world’s first containership converted from conventional diesel propulsion to LNG, according to Seaboard Marine.

Including the retrofitted boxship, the company’s fleet is expected to feature nine LNG-powered vessels by the end of 2025.
