  • Radar-absorbing materials (RAM) are materials that can absorb electromagnetic wave energy incident on their surfaces. They achieve this by converting the incident electromagnetic waves into heat or other forms of energy through various loss mechanisms within the material, thereby absorbing the waves. In engineering applications, radar-absorbing materials are required not only to have high absorption rates over a wide frequency range but also to possess properties such as light weight, temperature resistance, humidity resistance, and corrosion resistance. The effectiveness of the absorption is determined by various electromagnetic mechanisms within the material, such as Debye relaxation of dielectric materials, resonance absorption, interface relaxation, resonance relaxation of the magnetic domain walls in the interface of magnetic materials, electron diffusion, and micro-currents.
